Automatics and computerized technology faculty, nowadays Computer Science Faculty, appeared in 1965 for the preparation of specialists on speciality 0608 "computerized equipment and devices.". Assistant professor L.V. Berzin was elected as a dean. Faculty was also headed by assistant professor G.S.Pyatkin(1968 - 1989), Candidate of Technical sciences V.V.Kazimirchak(1989-1990) . From 1990 to 1999 I.A.Zhukov was a dean of the faculty. Since 1999 till 2002 dean of Faculty of computer Science was Doctor of Technical sciences, professor Sidorov N.A.

Into structure of faculty entered: faculty of computer facilities (manager of faculty the doctor of engineering science, professor, academician of an Academy of sciences of Ukraine, G.E.Puhov); faculty of the theory of automatic control (manager of faculty the doctor of engineering science, professor, academician of an Academy of sciences of Ukraine, A.I.Kuhtenko); faculty of onboard control systems and auto pilots (manager of faculty the doctor of engineering science, professor P.V.Solomin); faculty of hightest mathematics (manager of faculty the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor K.G.Valeyev).

Under the direction of the professors Nagorniy L.Y. At faculty in 1966 the faculty of electronic digital computers was created, such laboratories are created: computer electronics, digital computers, local computer networks, computer circuitry, and also personal computers.

The main goal was to train highly qualified specialists, Candidates and Doctors of Sciences, as well as the preparation of engineering staff. As a result of this work two scientific schools appeared. One under the governing of A.I.Kuhtenko, and the other headed by professor G.E.Puhov.

Laboratories for the training of students were created at the faculty. During the short period of time computers "Minsk-14", "Minsk-22", "M-220", "Dnipro-1" were bought. Computer class on the basis of "Nairee" computer was formed. In the faculty departments with the studying process scientific-research work executed. In the network of state program on cosmonautics in 1967 -1971 on the department of automatic regulation theory and scientific-research laboratory investigation and investigational-designing works from the creation of the simulator of the sitting module of the space ship executed (scientific advicer professor A.I.Kuhtenko).

A great volume of scientific investigations was realized on the problems of automazing of plane and air traffic control by the professor A.I.Kuhtenko.The results of this work are widely used in civial aviation, aircraft industry and other branches of popular economic.

In 1971 the department of computers technical maintenance was organized (the manager of faculty the professor A.G. Shevelyev).

For the training of the specialists on the speciality 0646 "Automatized control systems" in 1971 one more department was organized. It was a department of technique cybernetics. To the post of department chief from the Charkiv institute of radioelectronics a specialist on aviation automatics and automatized system of control A.A.Volkov was invited. The scientific school of professor A.A.Volkov was created. There was also prepared more than 10 doctors and 60 candidates.

Two profile departments were organized on the department. They are the department of automatized systems of air traffic control ( headed faculty: the candidate of engineering science, senior lecturer S.G.Unguryan (1979-1988), and since 1988 - doctor of engineering science, professor V.S.Demyanchuk) and the department of aircraft automatized computing systems (manager by faculty the candidate of engineering science, professor N.Y.Yatskov).

Modern laboratory base with the ACL AI "Start", "Sign", etc. It became the branch-wise training center on the expluatation of aircraft diagnostic systems with the flight data usage. On these departments training-production complexes with the branches in Borysoil airline.

One of the issuing departments on the faculty is the department of Software engineering. For a few years the department was governed by professor U.M.Minaev. He was followed by assistant professor N.N.Guziy. The lecturers of the department had executed a scientific research and written a great number of methodological literature for the students of the faculty.

For 36 years the faculty trained more than 3000 high-skilled ingeneers in sphere of computing technique and computer-based system operation and also great number of specialists for other countries - Bulharia, Poland, Cheh and Slovaky Republic, Germany, Hungary, Viatname, India, Cuba. Since 1984 the faculty train specialists for more than 50 countries such as Livan, Iordania, Marokko, Algier, Nigeria and other.

Lecturers-veterans of the faculty spent a lot of energy for training of high-skilled engineers.
